The Walking Dead The Complete Seventh Season Blu-ray Review
In this highly anticipated new season, we see Rick and the group of survivors fostering a thriving community in the safe haven of the prison. Sadly, in this brutal world, happiness is short-lived and walkers and outside threats are no match for danger brewing inside the fences. The group’s home and new way of life will be thoroughly tested, and their struggle to survive has never been so perilous. Season 4 also introduces several new characters including Bob Stookey (Lawrence Gilliard Jr., The Wire).

The first episodes when the characters were still “normal” and hardly discovered the zombified world are far enough in my memory but the context was posed from the outset and quickly assimilated. Once the simple rules laid down on the table the exploitation of the universe of the series quickly becomes interesting with ideas more and more twisted but always coherent and in the logic of the whole.
The series has its own post-apocalyptic atmosphere certainly a little random but immediately recognizable with these small old towns. The characters are also distinguished by their very visual look surge inherited from the comics, between the rasta samurai and the biker crossbow. Well there are also a lot of characters to the banal catch but given the murderous death of the second roles in almost every episode this is normal.
The premise of the season kicks off where last season left off and sees rick and his group try to survive especially under the rule of the ruthless Negan. Andrew Lincoln plays rick Grimes in this show and he goes through a lot of character development as the season progresses and I did enjoy watching him have to deal with the situations And not always making the right decision. There is always a huge cast on this show so I won’t talk about everybody just the main supporting characters. I had always liked the character of michonne but I feel like this is her best season and danai guerra does a great job in building herself up as a character that you care about. Norman reedus is back as Daryl Dixon and I feel like his character was slightly underutilized this season but when used he is once again at his best and I really enjoyed watching him this season.
Movie Quality: 9/10
The print is presented in 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 with a 1:78:1 aspect ratio. Watching this show once again in high definition on Blu-ray and originally having watched this show on AMC on its first run. Colors look much better with each passing season yet still retain that drab and gritty look really making you feel as a part of the atmosphere. The grit helps in bringing the viewer to this world of zombies. Since most of the show this season takes place at the Prison, the interior and exterior scenes look absolutely stunning and then add the natural greens of the foilage looking so life like. Blacks are very ink like as if each frame of the show was ripped right out of the comic books. The fourth season is astounding on Blu-ray and a nice upgrade from the first two seasons in high definition.
Print Quality: 9.5/10
The audio is presented in a Dolby TrueHD 7.1 mix. I found the Dolby TrueHD mix an upgrade from the Dolby Digital 5.1 mix while the show was broadcast on television. As the majority of the film features dialogue, when there’s action…the lossless soundtrack does a good job in making those scenes quite immersive by utilizing every channel. From zombies groaning and moaning, gun shots being fired, and birds chirping fill up the soundfield very nicely. Dialogue is clean through the center channel with no apparent issues.

Overall I am very excited for season 8 but I do feel like this season was a building block season and I hope to reap the rewards next season.
