Escape Plan 2: Hades Blu-ray Review
Years after Ray Breslin [Academy Award nominee Sylvester Stallone (Best Supporting Actor – Motion Picture, Creed, 2016)] fought his way out of the escape-proof prison called “The Tomb,” he’s organized a new top-notch, for-hire security force. But when one of his team members goes missing inside a computerized techno-terror battle-maze known as HADES, Breslin together with Trent DeRosa (Dave Bautista, Guardians of the Galaxy) must now decipher a way to break into the world’s best hidden prison, release their kidnapped team, and make it out alive.

There are direct references of the first movie and references to characters in that movie, they have made an effort to link the movies together and did a good job. There are a couple of excellent Saw esque twists in the movie which of them the twist half way through the movie was excellent I was very pleasantly surprised. The music throughout I really enjoyed and gives the movie a great deal of tension.
There was a scene at the end which is clearly added for one reason and that is to give Sly a fight scene, I didn’t think the movie needed it but it’s there anyway and most Sly fans will like it. The ending is a good open book for the third movie and after watching I think you like myself will be looking forward to the 3rd movie as it ends with a decent little cliffhanger (no pun intended).
This is a very descent film, and its pure octane, its fight after fight, guns slinging, hard knocking flick headlined by Stallone in top form.
Movie Quality: 6/10
The print is presented in 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 with a 1.78:1 aspect ratio. The visual style used here comes off very well. Color management is excellent with the style that is being used in the film. Colors are bold, vibrant, and pop off the screen. Fleshtones are natural looking with some excellent details. If you want to show off a film that takes advantage of Blu-ray this is it considering that details are out of this world. Black levels are rather deep. ‘Escape Plan 2’ is one detailed film due to strong color management and deep blacks. There are no blemishes on this print at all, it looks clean with a subtle use of grain throughout the film.
Video Quality: 9.5/10
The audio is presented in DTS-HD MA lossless 5.1 mix. This mix offers dynamic the sound effects and the soundtrack takes advantage of all the surrounds. From gun shots to action heavy sequences, you will feel like the action is taking place right in your living room. Bass management is also well done in this film. With the film split between action and dialogue, voices come through the center channel rather clean.

Overall I think the people who are not aware of this movie who pick it up because Sly is on the cover will definitely not be disappointed. If you are a fan of the cast this might be worth a viewing.
