When I first heard about this movie I was told the concept was Daphne and Velma pre-mystery Incorporated battling zombies and I thought “awesome! This sounds like Shaun of the dead meets Scooby Doo! With that being said the absence of Fred, Shaggy, and Scooby although they were certainly missed; didn’t take away from the overall mood. I would have liked to see the actors from the last couple movies return. But being though this was a spin off it needed to separate itself. So having new actresses didn’t really bother me.The cast was good for this one and it was very funny. Definitely a great movie for kids, but overall, it rushed through the last half and the explanation of the crime was very flimsy. I feel like some aspects could’ve been more thought out, but it was cute. I liked all the red herrings throughout the film and that there weren’t many loose ends. It was great to see the ladies take the lead on this one!

The print is presented in 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 with a 2:40:1 aspect ratio. ‘Daphne & Velma’ looks really good on Blu-ray considering that this is a lower budget film. Colors are strong throughout showing off the varied color palette. There are a lot of scenes where black levels excel really well. Details are fantastic from start to finish, you will not be disappointed.
Print Quality: 9/10
The audio is presented in a DTS-HD MA lossless 5.1 mix. ‘Daphne & Velma’ is a dialogue driven film with a nice mix of the soundtrack. Dialogue was clean through the center channel with a nice degree of depth. I never had to raise or lower the volume to make out what was being said. The soundfield does get a few effects into play from various chatter in the classroom, and the action scenes the girls get involved in bring some oomph to the soundstage. The soundtrack takes advantage of the soundfield with audio also pouring through the rears.

Overall Rating: 5/10
Overall, there were laughs along with the “Scooby Mystery” that the girls work to solve, and the finale was fun. If this is going to be a new spin off of films from the Scooby universe, I can’t wait to see how they expand on the material.
